EAGLE Features
Ad Hoc
|
“The ability to manipulate data – and to do it simply – is crucial to our business. That’s why we depend on EAGLE.”
The ad hoc application allows the user to access the complete EAGLE database, defining and generating unique or one-shot reports based on a particular instance or ad hoc need. In the military arena, for example, this discipline could be used to determine the precise configuration of a fleet of aircraft by serial number. User friendly screens are provided to assist you in quickly and efficiently producing customer reports. In fact, this function can be easily used without any prior experience using Excel or other spreadsheets. |
Administration
|
“A software system – any software system – does the user no good if it doesn’t provide complete control. We like EAGLE because it gives us control over every aspect of
the software.”
Under the Administration discipline, users can customize nearly all functions of the EAGLE program. For example,
system defaults can be set to predetermined or individually chosen levels. Altering these options changes
the look and feel of EAGLE. Options are also available to import or export Logistic Support Analysis Record (LSAR) fullfile or change only data. In short, the Administration function gives you the power and the flexibility to customize EAGLE’s functions to your specific needs. |
Breakdown Structure
|
“The Breakdown Structure allows me to find items within the LSAR without knowing part numbers or LCNs. All I have to know is where a part is used and I can then find it in the breakdown.”
The Breakdown Structure discipline presents the LCN structure of an end item graphically, in a hierarchical format. The breakdown can be based on either LCNs or part application by choosing the appropriate radio button.
The application allows the user to see a complete system breakdown in a file manager type format. The user can then move parts or LCNs around within the structure. The user can also move to other disciplines based on the data selected in the breakdown. |
Configuration Management
|
“Configuration Management allows engineering to document changes and impacts on exiting data. This used to be tracked in a separate system with no relation to existing data. EAGLE integrates the changes and ensures all impacts are addressed.”
The Configuration Management discipline allows users to track change requests for Engineering Change Orders (ECO), Engineering Change Proposals (ECP) and Technical
Information Reviews (TIR). The system allows for flexible electronic approvals. Once a change is created it can be linked to drawings, illustrations, documents, technical manuals, serialized inventory, contract line items and part applications. |
Graphics
|
“In our old system, our
engineers would crowd around
drawings to discuss their problems and ideas. EAGLE gives us that same approach — only in a virtual format. Now an engineer on one coast can offer his suggestions to an engineer on the other coast without leaving his computer.”
Instant access to technical drawings and specifications is not just a convenience. In critical situations, it’s an absolute necessity. And in areas of routine maintenance, it can be the key to making sure that the job is done right the first time. The Graphics discipline, maintains and stores technical drawings and artwork in a variety of formats. The user gets instant access to every available drawing. It’s as simple as point and click. |
Provisioning
|
“Provisioning is an immensely
data-intensive field. The
EAGLE software allows me to
access the data I need simply and directly. I don’t have to hunt
for hours. I don’t have to call data support. I just have to click the appropriate tab and find
exactly what I want.”
The more data provisioners have, the more effective they can be. In the Provisioning discipline, you have access to vast amounts of information. Select a part number and then ask for a summary of the corresponding part information available. You can expand the data for even more specific information. Navigation through the Provisioning discipline is performed simply by selecting the appropriate tab and clicking. |
Reports
|
“EAGLE gives me the ability
to generate whatever report
I need from any discipline,
as well as import and export
data into the database.
The flexibility to run any report
from any module has saved
us time and money.”
EAGLE offers the 48 military standard reports in addition to a nearly limitless range of custom reports. These can be generated from anywhere within EAGLE with the Reports discipline. Simply. Powerfully. And with complete flexibility. Once the specific type of report is selected, the user is assisted through the creation of the report by a data entry window, with the required information to run the designated report as well as optional information to narrow the scope of the report. |
RMT Management
|
“Our logistics engineers and our reliability engineers are working more closely together; we need a unified tool to do logistics and reliability. EAGLE RMT provides this capability, without needing an extra hardware and software.”
The EAGLE Reliability Maintainability and Testability (RMT) discipline is based on the requirement of using the LSAR, performing analysis upon the data utilizing the included toolkits, and producing a new LSAR as a baseline for production of a new system. The EAGLE RMT system is a response to the business need of decreasing the time required to bring a new product to market as well as decreasing the associated costs. The EAGLE RMT discipline is composed of the following four functions: Reliability Analysis; Failure Mode, Effects and Criticality Analysis (FEMCA); Testability Analysis; and Maintainability Analysis. |
Support Equipment
|
“Imagine having a package
that tells you what maintenance
to do, when to do it, what equipment is required to do it, and exactly how to go about it. That’s what the EAGLE’s Support Equipment discipline does.
It’s been a lifesaver.”
The Support Equipment discipline tracks data related to existing or new support, test and training equipment. This information serves as administrative-type data for the Support Equipment Requirements Document (SERD) report. This information also identifies hardware and software elements required to conduct off-line tests. In addition, the support equipment function can automatically generate such military standard reports as an LSA-070 and FORMS 9 and 603. |
Task Analysis
|
“One of the most impressive EAGLE functions of Task Analysis is the integration of task related data. All related task data is easily created or linked in using the application. Once a task is created it can then be turned into an ASD S1000D data module. This integration has is truly key in developing usable task data.” The Task Analysis discipline tracks the documentation of task analysis, personnel, consumables and support equipment data. Information is presented in sufficient detail to define task times, skill, tools, support equipment, facilities and supply support requirements. It gives the user instant access to all applicable maintenance quickly and accurately. From Task Analysis the user can produce ASD S1000D compliant XML/SGML tagged data modules. Users can edit and tag task narrative with most industry standard XML/SGML editors. |
Technical Manual
|
“Building technical manuals used to be one of the slowest, most labor-intensive jobs we had. Now, thanks to the EAGLE package, we can create any manual of our choosing with a few simply mouse clicks. Now our manuals are as current
as today.” With the Technical Manual application users can create technical manuals to virtually any format utilizing existing data in the EAGLE database. Just specify the manual required and link in task data to the manual structure. EAGLE utilizes information stored in the database to output XML and then applies stylesheets to produce paper or interactive technical manuals. |
